CITY OF LAUDERDALE LAKES CONDUCTS BUDGET WORKSHOPS
LAUDERDALE LAKES: (LAUDERDALE LAKES, Florida) — The City of Lauderdale Lakes recently held is first of five Budget workshops with Property Appraiser Marty Kiar as a presenter on Wednesday May 30, 2018.
The focus of this Budget Workshop was Property Taxes and the Broward County Property Appraiser, Marty Kiar, shared with the City the projected property values for 2018, which are anticipated to increase by 8.6%. However this increase would not affect the majority of residential property owners because residential property owners who have a homestead exemption on their property are limited by the amount property values can be adjusted annually. It is the lessor of the consumer price index (2.1%) or 3.0% and therefore homesteaded residential property owners taxes would not increase by 8.6% but by 2.1% instead.
The projected increase in revenue generated by the increase in values will be allocated towards the City’s strategic priorities, which include public safety; maintaining and improving public infrastructure; enhancing growth management, maximizing economic development, improving public image and engaging the public.
We invite all citizens, property owners, and businesses to participate in the remaining scheduled Budget Workshops. The City will decide how to best allocate its resources towards its strategic priorities. We encourage you to attend these meeting and share your thoughts. The workshops will take place on the following dates all at 5:01PM at City Hall-Gereffi Room, 4300 Northwest 36st Street, Lauderdale Lakes FL 33319:
June 13, 2018 June 20, 2018
July 18, 2018 July 23, 2018
