The HLMP program will provide qualified wind resistance construction and installations to be completed in strict compliance with Florida Building Codes and Manufacturer’s Specifications. Mitigating a home means strengthening it against hurricane force winds to make it safer, providing increased levels of protection for homeowners and their families. Example activities include:
Replacement of roof covering/re-roofing
Installation of window and door opening protection
Installation of hurricane straps
Application of secondary water barrier
Lauderdale Lakes Residential Assistance Program
The City of Lauderdale Lakes will provide assistance to our low-income residents during this time of great economic need to assist in alleviating the financial impact during this time. Upon approval of funding, the City of Lauderdale Lakes will be accepting applications from households that are facing financial constraints. Eligible households may receive rental or mortgage assistance along with utilities to include (electricity, internet/cable and water). Rental Deposits Assistance Program
The City of Lauderdale Lakes, will provide assistance to our low-income residents during this time of great economic need to assist in alleviating financial constraint. One-time emergency payment on behalf of eligible families for rental deposit payments to prevent homelessness. Maximum award up to $4,000 per qualified household. Code Compliance Trust Fund Program
The program established hereby and the benefits to be provided hereunder are limited to those violations pertaining to single-family homes and condominium units, which involve the aesthetic appearance of the exterior of real property or which constitute an imminent threat of the loss of property or bodily harm. By way of example, but not the way of limitation, violations concerning the appearance of lawns and irrigation systems, the exterior of buildings, including roofs, broken windows, unprotected swimming pools, stagnant water, deteriorated exterior doors, or deteriorated fences and walls shall be within the scope of the code enforcement trust fund program. For those eligible, the cost to cure shall not exceed $2,500.00. The city may provide one-time financial assistance to eligible program participants to correct code violations. Home Improvement Program
The City of Lauderdale Lakes is funding a home improvement program for owner-occupied, single-family and condos within the City of Lauderdale Lakes. The HIP program will provide assistance to residents with improvements meeting the Florida Building Codes and Manufacturer’s Specifications. These improvements will provide financial relief to residents at or below the Broward County Area Median Income of $73,400, in doing so many of our residents and their families will benefit from the increase in their home value. Homeowners Insurance Program
This program is limited to single-family homes and condominium units, the city will provide to eligible applicants one-time payment only up to $3,500.00 to obtain property insurance. It is the responsibility of the property owner to maintain the insurance policy thereafter, the City of Lauderdale Lakes will not be responsible for any further payments. Priority will be given to residents applying to the City’s grant programs. Funding is based on a first come, first serve bases until funding is exhausted. Minor Home Repair Program (MHRP)
The City of Lauderdale Lakes is offering a minor home repair grant to low income households up to a maximum award of $40,000. Eligible improvements include, but are not limited to, life safety, plumbing, electrical, roofing, windows, HVAC and handicap accessibility. Funding is limited and available on a first-come, first-served, first-qualified, basis. Similar to the previous Hurricane Loss Mitigation program, the MHRP will provide qualified wind resistance construction and installations to be completed in strict compliance with Florida Building Codes and Manufacturer’s Specifications, in addition to other repairs. It can include activities such as:
- Replacement of roof covering/re-roofing
- Installation of window and door opening protection
- Installation of hurricane straps
- Application of secondary water barrier
