MESSAGE FROM THE CRA CHAIRPERSON

The City of Lauderdale Lakes Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) was initiated in 1999 to establish strategies for community and economic renewal based on priorities determined through dialogue with the public.  The CRA "Citizen's Master Plan," created the vision for the future of Lauderdale Lakes based on feedback generated during an inspiring weekend charrette, which brought together city officials, urban planners, design professionals, residents, and business owners. Adopted in 2003, this plan outlines community needs and desires, and serves as the blueprint that directs public and private investment to key projects which are revitalizing the commercial corridors of the City of Lauderdale Lakes today.

Since the establishment of the CRA, property taxes generated through new development within the boundaries of the CRA have been captured and redirected toward the goals and priorities reflected in the Citizen's Master Plan.  We have been able to maximize the overall investment and make our vision a reality. Today, there are nearly 550 acres of prime development opportunities within the CRA's boundaries, and more than $600 million invested in new development.

Whether you are a resident, business owner, investor, or developer, participation in the Lauderdale Lakes community redevelopment effort is welcomed. All interested parties are encouraged to attend the monthly CRA board meetings, held generally on the third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Commission Chambers at City Hall.

The Lauderdale Lakes Community Redevelopment Agency is making great strides in transforming the city into the vibrant commercial center it is destined to be. We invite you to learn about the exciting projects already underway, or to contact the CRA staff to find out how you can play a role in the revitalization of the CRA area.
