LAUDERDALE LAKES, FL: Our City commission is working together to ensure the residents of Lauderdale Lakes are represented in a positive manner. The Commission has chosen to go in-house for their interim City Manager. Danny A. Holmes assumed the post of interim Lauderdale Lakes City Manager on April 28, 2015. He joined the City in June of 2003 as the Development Services Director. Mr. Holmes also served as the Director of Public Works between 2011 and 2014.
“We believe that Mr. Holmes is the best man for the job”, said Mayor Russell. “He has been with us for a long time and is clear on the vision that the Commissioners and myself have set in motion to be realized.” The Commissioners would like to see some changes in businesses within the City, the cleanliness of the City, as well as improvements of the City’s infrastructure. Holmes has been a vital part of the City’s growth and will undoubtedly transition into the CM position with ease.
Prior to joining Lauderdale Lakes, Mr. Holmes served as the Assistant Director of the Community Planning & Development Department for the City of North Miami, Florida. He began his career in public service as a Management Intern for the Broward County Florida Growth Management Department. After three years at the Broward County Growth Management Department, Mr. Holmes advanced his career to the Broward County Planning Council serving as the County’s Trafficways Planner. After leaving the Broward County Planning Council Mr. Holmes served as the City Planner for both the Cities of Lauderhill, Florida and Wilton Manors, Florida.
Danny earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Studies from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia and holds a Master’s of Science Degree from the Heinz School of Public Management at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Mr. Holmes’ planning experience has been recognized by his being named a Certified Planner from the American Institute of Certified Planners. Danny’s professional affiliations include the: International City / County Management Association, Florida City / County Management Association, Broward City / County Management Association, American Planning Association, and Florida Planning Association to name a few.
