[ARCHIVED] October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Press Release - Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and on Friday October 1st, I, along with members of the Lauderdale Lakes Commission, participated in a breast cancer presentation hosted by Boyd Anderson High school. We celebrated the lives of our local breast cancer survivors.

I am saddened to hear that Florida’s First Lady, Mrs. Casey DeSantis, was diagnosed with breast cancer and join in prayers and wishing her all the best in her recovery.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, each year in the United States, about 255,000 women get breast cancer and 42,000 women die from the disease.

For more information on breast cancer prevention and treatment options please consult with your local healthcare provider.
