LAUDERDALE LAKES: (LAUDERDALE LAKES, Florida) — “Poised for Success” was the message delivered by Mayor Hazelle Rogers in her 2nd State of the City Address. With standing room only available, she and her colleagues celebrated the City’s 57th year of incorporation from a population of 300 to an estimated 35,000 with the cutting of the cake. U.S. Congressman Alcee Hastings, who was not able to attend, sent his congratulations along with Resolution # 942 currently going through the House of Representatives expressing support for the honoring of the city’s diversity as well as being the only city in the state of Florida comprised solely of women of color.
The Mayor delivered a powerful address regarding the progress in the various departments with a focus on Economic Development, Community Development and Financial Services. The Mayor affirmed that the budget will represent the vision, mission and goals with a focus on the Opportunity Zone Tax Incentive program. This program targets certain census tracts, promotes conversations with property owners, and supports community partnerships.
Mayor Rogers asked attendees to join her in reciting the City’s strategic goals . “These goals will guide us as we position our city for success”, said Mayor Rogers.
