City Receives The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award
(LAUDERDALE LAKES, Florida) — The City of Lauderdale Lakes received the Government Finance Officers Association GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the fourth consecutive year!
The Budget and Management Division of the Financial Services Department worked diligently to provide an accurate and proficient 2016 budget that followed the GFOA’s guidelines. Susan Liburd said,” This award is a continuous achievement for this department and the City as a whole. It represents the hard work and dedication by this department and I am proud of each individual who worked on the budget..”
In order to receive the GFOA Award, Lauderdale Lakes had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentations. Guidelines designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serve as a policy document, a financial plan, a guide for operations, and a communications device. GFOA attests this award reflects the commitment of the City and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. In order to receive the award, the budget documents must be rated proficient in all four of the categories as well as the fourteen mandatory criteria within those four categories.
For budgets beginning in 2015, 1550 participants received and the awardees have pioneered efforts to improve the quality of budgeting and have provided an excellent example for other governments throughout North America. The GFOA is a major professional association servicing the needs of approximately 18,700 appointed and elected local, state, and provincial-level government officials and other finance practitioners. They are the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
For four years , the Financial Services Department of the City of Lauderdale Lakes have excelled in this task and should be proud to hold this record. “This is great news, as have been for the past 3 years. We couldn’t be happier to witness the Financial Services Department be awarded for such an auspicious award.” said Mayor Barrington Russell. “Their efforts are always greatly appreciated.”
