Community Redevelopment Agency

CRA Executive Director, J. Gary Rogers
Development of the Lauderdale Lakes Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) was initiated in 1999 to establish strategies for community and economic renewal based on priorities determined through dialogue with the citizens of the community. The CRA, along with our "Citizen's Master Plan," creates the vision for the future of Lauderdale Lakes, the "Heart of Broward County."

The "Citizen's Master Plan" was crafted from feedback generated during an inspiring weekend charrette, which brought together city officials, urban planners, design professionals, residents, and business owners. Adopted in 2003, the plan outlines community needs and desires, and serves as the blueprint that directs public and private investment to key projects which are revitalizing the commercial corridors of the city today.

Property taxes generated through these new developments within the boundaries of the CRA are captured and redirected towards the goals and priorities reflected in the "Citizen's Master Plan," thereby maximizing the overall investment and making the vision a reality.

Today, there are nearly 550 acres of prime development opportunities within the CRA's boundaries, and more than $600 million in new development already on the drawing boards or under construction.

Whether you are a resident, business owner, investor, or developer, participation in the Lauderdale Lakes community redevelopment effort is welcomed. All interested parties are encouraged to attend the monthly CRA board meetings, held on the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Gerreffi Room at City Hall. Meeting agendas are posted to the Meetings and Agendas portion of this website, or are available in hard copy by contacting the City Clerk's Office.

The Lauderdale Lakes Community Redevelopment Agency is making great strides in transforming the city into the vibrant commercial center it is destined to be. I invite you to review the overviews and press about the exciting projects already underway, or to contact the CRA staff to find out how you can play a role in the revitalization of the “Heart of Broward County.”
